R&D Center

Ever since the R&D Center was established and registered in the Ministry of Education in May 2001, it has played a key role for BHI’s growth.
The main purpose of the R&D Center is to develop futuristic and high value-added technologies in order to be a leading company in development of industry and society.
BHI has aggressively commercialized R&D outcomes and so achieved a substitution effect of imports in related industries.
BHI has closely cooperated with related companies, research institutes, and universities in preparation for an era of increased technical competitiveness, and perform efficient research services through exchanges of technical information and joint research.
The R&D Center serves as a stepping-stone for BHI to boost its quality and technology.

Overview of Technology Instead of using circular tubes which other domestic and overseas firms use, BHI uses oval tubes to improve heat efficiency and gain competitiveness in products which requires compact size (ship engine, oxygen factories)

02. Bent Type Recuperator which energy efficiency

Product Name Bent Type Recuperator which energy efficiency
Overview of Technology Energy saving type heat exchanger to recover waste heat by using gas discharged from plant equipment, steel equipment, and industrial equipment. To reduce heat stress and improve heat transfer efficiency, it uses bent type tube instead of straight type tube

03. Feed Water Heater with energy efficiency

Product Name Feed Water Heater with energy efficiency
Overview of Technology Necessarily used in domestic/overseas plant equipment, steel equipment and large ships in order to improve the power generation efficiency. Overheated steam cooler, condenser, and condensate water cooler are designed and fabricated in a package to improve the heat transfer efficiency. Continuous non- condensate gas discharger and steam box are installed to improve the condensation efficiency,

Product Name Deaerator with High Efficiency
Overview of Technology To remove dissolved oxygen of water fed to the Boiler. Differentiated injection valve and tray developed by self-technology are used in order to improve efficiency.

Overview of Technology Necessarily used in domestic/overseas plant equipment, steel equipment and large ships in order to improve the power generation efficiency; directly influences the power plant performance. Used to condense steam discharged from turbine. Self-development based on overseas advanced technologies introduced by technical tie-up.

06. Emergency Core Cooling System Passive Suction Strainert

Product Name Surface Condenser (Korean type)
Overview of Technology Strainers of Emergency Core Cooling Systems(ECCS) are needed to protect pumps from debris that consists of insulation material, corrosion products, paint chips, sand plastic tags and other debris in the event of LOCA(Loss of Coolant Accident).

Technology Development Method BHI fulfills a final performance test on a test-product produced by a manufacturing company based on an engineering model prepared by a design institute. After the final performance test, BHI collaborates with Korean Hydro & Nuclear Power corporations to foster and develop Government supported Nuclear Power Plant Projects.
